Community fundraising – how do I get started?

If you would like to fundraise in your community for Changing Faces contact us at [email protected] and we can support you.
Once you’ve planned out what you are going to do, we suggest setting up a JustGiving page to kick start your fundraising.

To make the most of your fundraising, make sure you:

  • Set a target (you can always increase if you reach it quicker than expected!)
  • Tell your story. Explain the fundraiser/challenge you’re undertaking and why Changing Faces is important to you
  • Share your page link on social media and by email
  • Ask your most generous sponsors/contacts to donate first. Others haven’t always decided how much to donate when they open your page and might base their donation on what other people have given
  • Ask for donations at the end of the month. People may be feeling a little more generous if pay day has just passed!
  • Raise your target if it’s close to being met

How will the money I raise make a difference?

There are currently an estimated 1.3m children and adults living with a visible difference in the UK and they face multiple challenges. They are vulnerable to isolation, loneliness, social anxiety and low self-esteem. They face staring, harassment, bullying and hate crime.

Many people with a visible difference face multiple levels of discrimination every day and our survey showed that shockingly, 50% said they felt self-conscious or embarrassed about their visible difference and 49% had experienced hostile behaviour. Read more about the impact on people’s lives.

We’re here to support people affected by visible difference to live the life they choose and free from discrimination. The money you raise can make this possible by providing the confidence, support and the opportunity to thousands of people with a visible difference.
